Our processes

From our processes and quality controls to our steadfast integrity with U.S. and international regulations, we invest in our advanced in-house laboratories and third-party testing, as well as state-of-the-art equipment, giving us total control over our ingredients and formulas.

4 rounds of testing

Every supplement we manufacture undergoes four rounds of testing to ensure every supplement meets our high standards. As soon as a raw material enters our facility, we test its identity and purity. Whether it’s mixing ingredients, testing a finished product before it’s shipped, or monitoring its shelf life, quality guides our every decision.

Round 1

Raw materials and components

We test every raw material and component. In our in-house laboratories, we screen for raw material contaminants.

Round 2

In-process testing

In-process testing helps ensure the correct amount of ingredients are used in our formulations, and we stringently check for any bottle, label, or capsule defects throughout the manufacturing process.

Round 3

Finished product testing

Before going to market, finished products are tested to confirm the identity, potency, and purity of the ingredients, and to confirm that no microbiological contamination occurred during manufacturing.

Round 4

Stability testing

We test a product’s stability to confirm it will meet its label claim up to the expiration date.

Our products

The best nutritional supplements begin with the best ingredients. Thorne’s formulas are built on a foundation of ingredients that are both clinically researched and sustainably sourced. To ensure the purity and potency of our ingredients, we implement a strict ingredient control system.

Every ingredient is quarantined until it meets specification for identification, concentration, and purity. As a result, every batch of Thorne’s supplements delivers optimal absorption, safety, and efficacy.

The “No List” is a living document, which we review annually by referencing regulatory documents from national and international organizations, like the NFL, MLB, and the World Anti-Doping Agency. Because we control the manufacturing process, we have total authority over what does and does not go into our products. We refuse to use unnecessary fillers, like magnesium stearate, that can inhibit absorption. We ensure optimal quality in every Thorne supplement by only including excipients that will not interfere with the quality of the active ingredients.

40+

The number of Thorne formulas and ingredients currently in clinical trials worldwide. Being able to rely on the safety and efficacy of our nutritional supplements is the motivating force behind our clinical trials program. Our campus

Our nutritional supplements are manufactured in the United States using globally sourced ingredients at our campus in Summerville, South Carolina, meaning we have total control over what goes into our products.

But don’t just take our word for it! Our manufacturing and warehousing facilities undergo regular third-party certification audits and regulatory audits to ensure compliance with the latest Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and regulations. These audits are conducted by independent certification entities, including NSF and Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which has the most stringent cGMP regulations and is often recognized as the toughest regulatory agency in the world.
